Battlecruiser (later known as Universal Combat) was an incredibly vast sci-fi simulator involving space, ground and naval combat. I worked on it remotely as a freelancer producing a variety of content such as the weaponry and buildings featured here. The work was sporadic but fabulously rewarding as there were no fancy shaders, normal maps, specular maps, AO bakes or fancy lighting. In brief, you could have loads of fun just making a really nice and simple diffuse map where every pixel counted.
